Why Egyptian Cotton?

Egyptian cotton has a good reputation for a reason. Cotton grown in Egypt grows with longer staples than cotton grown elsewhere in the world. The length of the fibers (staples) in cotton matters; those extra-long fibers lend strength and softness to the products we make. Egyptian cotton simply lasts longer than any other type of cotton, and retains its color longer as well. Cotton’s ability to “breathe” means it wicks away moisture which can cause odors, while keeping you cool and dry, even when you’re stepping it up at the gym. Wash these socks as many times as you’d like and they won’t fade or stretch.

Cotton from India or other parts of the developing world can be heavily inundated with chemicals during the growing and manufacturing process, but the cotton we use is certified by an independent testing program dedicated to textile safety and ecological practices. Our egyptian cotton is ecologically sourced, safe, and healthy.

Who we are: Environmental. Ethical. Socially responsible. Fashion forward.

The luxury goods produced by our Ukraine-based company exceed industry standards for responsible manufacturing. Our focus on responsibility extends to our employees and our manufacturing process as well. Our company voluntarily participates in the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification program and strictly follows Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI)  guidelines as a way of committing ourselves to our customers, our workers, and our world. Oeko-Tex Certification Assures High Health and Safety Standards:

Our commitment to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification standards guarantees that our products are free of the kinds of carcinogenic chemicals and heavy metals used by many textile manufacturers. All textiles bearing Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification must meet the global standards of the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile Ecology. Both the raw materials and end-products of Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certified textiles must be grown and manufactured following strict guidelines about the use of certain fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals. The materials are rigorously tested for over 100 harmful substances during all stages of manufacturing, from growth to final product...and all parts of the finished project, from thread to fasteners must be tested and found free of pesticides, heavy metals, carcinogens, harmful dyes, and preservatives. Many organic fabrics don’t even achieve Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification standards due to the means by which they are processed...but our fabrics do!

Our products are certified, and meet or exceed standards for products in class I and class II Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification...the two most rigorous categories for textiles, which take special care of fabrics intended for infants and toddler use (class I certification) and fabrics intended to be worn close to the body (class II certification).  Products carrying the Oeko-Tex certification must also adhere to certain environmental standards in manufacturing. Our commitment to textile safety centers on our dedication to producing ecologically sound, safe, and healthy products. Each pair of socks purchased from our company comes with a printed certificate verifying that your purchase meets or exceeds Oeko-Tex standards.

We are one of the leading importers of luxury, top quality textiles. Our textiles are hand-selected from the finest manufacturers around the world. Unlike other companies that source cheaply manufactured products from China, we personally traveled the globe looking for the best products made from the finest materials. Now, we are bringing those hand-selected, top quality textiles to you.

Our product range includes everyday items like pillows, bed sheets, towels, bathrobes, bath mats, apparel, socks, and more. We promise these products will be the most comfortable and highest quality you ever own. Once you slip your feet into a pair of fine plush Turkish cotton socks, trust us, you won’t ever go back to wearing poorly made cheap cotton socks again.

At Oko Boutique, we’re on a mission to not just bring you great products but to improve your shopping experience and enhance your lifestyle with these fine, hand-sourced items. We not only stand behind the quality of our products but also behind the process in which they are made. Unlike our competitors’ products that are made in Chinese sweatshops using child labor, our products are manufactured under the highest labor and textile standards.

We also test our products to ensure their safety, making sure no harsh chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Sadly, there are over 8,000 chemicals used in textiles that other companies, including our competitors, consider to be acceptable. We won’t stand for this! These dangerous chemicals can cause allergies, rashes, and in rare cases, even cancer. That is certainly not acceptable to us, and you deserve better.

When sourcing our products, we only deal with manufacturers that are BSCI certified. This certification serves as an international code of conduct that ensures the highest level of labor protections. BSCI certified manufacturers must adhere to strict standards ensuring workers are treated fairly and humanely. Their code of conduct establishes 11 core principles that give workers the right to a healthy and safe working environment, fair wages, decent working hours, ethical business practices, and sustainability standards. They mandate special protections to prevent worker discrimination, child labor, and servitude.

In addition to only dealing with manufacturers that meet BSCI principles, we also only select textiles that adhere to Oeko-Tex standards. Oeko-Tex’s Standard 100 is a globally recognized certification and testing system for textiles ensuring they are free of any harmful chemicals or banned substances like formaldehyde. The closer textiles are to sensitive skin, the stricter the requirements. Our products meet Oeko-Tex Standard 100 class I and II requirements, meaning they are safe enough for babies and toddlers, and to be worn directly on your most sensitive skin.

When shopping at Oko Boutique, you’ll soon realize the difference that high-quality products and high manufacturing standards create. We wouldn’t accept anything less for ourselves or our discerning customers. We trust that once you experience the Oko Boutique difference, you will never accept anything less either.
